One Portrait - The Setup

On a regular basis we get called in to do a standard portrait series for senior management (and sometimes the entire staff) and this is how we do it.
The objective is to always produce a well lit, flattering portrait of the subject where the subject is separated from the background and the lighting doesn’t take away from the person being photographed.

The assignment was to photograph the head of information technology for the government, for a healthcare magazine. The objective was to make an image which showed him confident and we didn’t know where we might be able to make the image going in.

Sometimes assignments are a subset of an overarching project. And sometimes, those assignments are self-assigned. This is just such a case.
While working on an assignment to cover this well known public figure’s recent book publication, and her appearance on a news radio program, the opportunity presented itself to make a nice portrait of the subject. It was my objective to do so. I took it as an opportunity to challenge myself, and my abilities to make a nice image.
