Scream – Backstage and Front of House

Saturday, August 18, 2007 Concept/Objective:

The objective was to capture images backstage with guests and the artists, as well as with the performers on stage, for the sponsoring client.

Pre-Production:

Backstage, there were two backdrops, one where, while it looks big, is obscured by people when they stand infront of it, and one, while it looks small, is just right for the background. In addition, there was only one client logo that would work for the show, except that it was amost always in total darkness.

Assignment:

After all the guests filed through the backstage, and we did all their group shots, we headed out to the arena for the concert. For just a few minutes, the client’s DJ was lit, performing before the show got underway.  Several images here show just how dark the arena was where the logo was, save for just afew where a wayward light passed across it, allowing us to capture it.

Post-Production:

The delivery of a CD, and prints from the backstage groupings was what was called for.

Final Analysis:

The artists were much friendlier than I expected for this event, and getting to shoot the entire show, rather than the first three songs, made for better images.

Design can also aid in selling a product or idea through effective visual communication. It is applied to products and elements of company identity like logos, colors, packaging, and text.
