Jay-R At the Mic

Wednesday, July 25, 2007 Concept/Objective:

Assignment ConstructThe objective was to document a highly regarded auto racing driver during a visit to the client’s studios.

Pre-Production:

Knowing that we’d have limited time to do the images, we chose to be inside the studio during the interview.

Assignment:

Assignment ConstructOnce the driver arrived, we made a few images. The typical angle is the one where he’s smiling and looking down, but that’s just not a great perspective. Instead, choosing a much lower position looking upwards, as well as waiting for a gesture made for a much better image. Bouncing the strobe off the ceiling also made for a much softer-lit image.Assignment Construct

Post-Production:

We had to deliver three images to the client after the event.

Final Analysis:

On his way out, we made a point of asking him to pause next to the client’s wall sign – which is a wall of brushed stainless steel, presenting it’s own challenges, but being a nice image to have, when done right.
