Indian Treaty Room Awards

Wednesday, November 29, 2006 Concept/Objective:

Assignment ConstructThe objective was to document the backstage handshakes and podium presentations by the Secretary of Commerce to two business leaders.

Being cleared into the White House,  actually the Old Executive Office Building, (which is a part of the White House complex) and heading upstairs takes a bit of time, and a clean record. Fortunately, I have both. On-camera flash and a good suit are the accessories that accompany my standard collection of cameras and lenses.

The Secretary of Commerce comes in, and greets those getting their awards backstage, prior to the event.  A capturing those handshakes, is important, because the opportunity to get them at the podium is not going to happen, as they are exchanging an award then.

At the podium, knowing where to stand/crouch, as well as being comfortable asking the Secretary and recipient to turn and look towards the camera is necessary, Waiting each time after they’ve posed, they turn a second time to shake hands, with the awards, that that image is much more of an action/natural image than the posed one.

We processed and delivered four image from the event to the news media on behalf of the client, and delivered the CD under a normal turnaround

Final Analysis:

The room, for it’s beauty, is a challenge because of the high ceilings, with dark coloring, so it’s next to impossible to bounce off of, presenting significant challenges.
