Homeward Bound for The All-Star Game

Saturday, July 07, 2007 Concept/Objective:

Assignment Construct: It was nice to be headed home to the SF bay area to capture the all-star game in San Francisco. The last time I came home around something baseball centric, it was 1989 and it was for the earthquake when the world series was happening. This time, I just needed to document a client’s participation in the game, as they were a high profile sponsor of some of the events.

Pre-Production:

Having done this the year prior, knowing that traveling light was critical. I had an assistant with me, who’s job it was to carry the laptop and extra equipment.  We sat down the night before and went over the entire schedule of events, figuring out all the logistics of getting from the hotel to the stadium, and back again, as well as how we would cover the dozen or so activities we needed images of.

Assignment:

Assignment ConstructAssignment ConstructAssignment ConstructWhen documenting the client’s booth at Fanfest, be wanted to get the client logo in images with happy fans, and that wasn’t always easy. Several different angles let us tell the story from several perspectives.

Post-Production:

Each night, we’d review our checklist, figuring out which images we’d gotten, and which we needed to get the next day.

Final Analysis:

Sometimes, it’s both exhausting and exhilarating to cover an assignment, this was one of those times. I’m not a huge baseball fan, but how can you not have a great time when all these activities are happening around you!
